Seeds saved from a hybrid. Original seed packet lists, "At up to 3 lbs., meet the biggest tomato ever bred with true heirloom tomato flavor and head-spinning fragrance...75-80 days...Indeterminate." In reality, 82 of 83 heirloom and other varieties from documented giant lines outperformed this one in terms of size in side-by-side trials. (The one variety that did not beat out Steakhouse was Severnyi: that vine died before producing any blossoms. Maybe I just got a bad batch of seeds? In any case, these were medium-size (0.868 lb. largest), red, well-formed good tasting tomatoes on healthy, regular leaf vines. One picture here shows the largest Steakhouse specimen dwarfed by an average-sized (1.320 lb.) tomato from one of my crosses: Michael's Portuguese Monster X MegaMarv.
