Inca Berry, aka Goldenberry, Cape Gooseberry, among others, is a large (4-5 grams), beautiful, deep orange ground cherry with a unique, intense flavor. When fully ripe, this fruit has a wonderful sweet/tart combination that is unique, memorable and delicious. Fabulous in fruit salads and other desserts. But this cannot be stressed enough: they need to be on the ground, fully ripe and deep orange, or flavor is not pleasant - something like unpalatable medicine. Vines are upright and sturdy with fuzzy leaves. Regrettably, significant production does not start until mid-October in the Wasatch Front of Utah - best to get an early start and keep soil warm if you live in a short season area. Slightly frost resistant.
