Leh Red Egg
Red, plum to ovoid with moderately dry, smooth flesh. Very good, balanced flavor; rich but not overwhelming, scored 8.0 of 10 for flavor. Semi-determinate, almost potato leaf foliage with long, thin flowers. Good yield from 87 days; blossoms set very early but fruits were quite slow to ripen after reaching full size. Controlled pollination. Source: “a dried tomato from our trek leader in Nepal... purchased from Leh, India”. Leh is located in the foothills of the Karakoram Mountains at 11,500' elevation. Should do well for gardeners at high elevation or latitude.
