PLEASE NOTE: THIS SERVICE IS OFFERED ONLY FOR ADDRESS WITHIN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.


This "Ground Advantage" service is offered in addition to the standard, flat-rate $3.00 shipping charge. And is intended to cover:


  1. Actual costs charged by the US Postal Service (see link above); this is the cheapest way to get tracking information from the USPS, whether your items are shipped via package, large envelope, or small envelope.
  2. The reality that Delectation of Tomatoes is located in a small town, where there is no home delivery or pickup of mail, and where the lobby at the local post offices is open for only limited hours.
  3. This is a one-person operation, so Priority, Express, or Ground Advantage mail means that I have to drop everything I am doing, interrupt routine, make a special trip to the post office, and introduce unplanned and unanticipated inefficiencies into my workflow.
  4. Requesting this more affordable special delivery service DOES NOT mean that you will receive your seeds any sooner. Like everyone else, I will process your request in the time order that it was received. Ground Advantage just means that you can track your order as it moves through the USPS system.
  5. I have documented that tracking service by using Ground Advantage can take up to 18 days for delivery by the USPS. Delays are especially common during winter months (December through March), which are also the most popular months for ordering seeds.
  6. In about 10-15 cases every year, the USPS accidently (???) delivers mail to the wrong address, or returns mail to me with the dreaded yellow sticker, "undeliverable as addressed", even when the address is CORRECT, or at least identical to the shipping address I received when you placed your order. I have no control over these mistakes (???) by the USPS, and have published my return/replacement policy at the Store tab on the website.
  7. For some insight into why the mindset of "I WANT MY SEEDS NOW" and "I want to know exactly where my seed order is at all times" does not align well with the mission statement of Delectation of Tomatoes, please review these publications:
