Purple Passion
Description from Delectation of Tomatoes:
Medium-sized, oblate fruits with deep red flesh and clear skin. Outstanding flavor: exceptionally sweet, clear and pleasant. Potato leaf, indeterminate vines produce
well from 90 days. Origin was Todd Coleman of Sandusky, Ohio, USA. Some have regular leaf vines.
Description from original source (Diane's Flower Seeds):
"Be one of the first people in the world to try this newly rediscovered heirloom! Purple Passion is a large, pink beefsteak with a delicious flavor. Three out of five people in our family prefer Purple Passion over Brandywine. This beautiful tomato is crack-resistant and fairly productive. We've had good reports from customers who have tried it. Tomato 'Purple Passion' was introduced by Diane's Flower Seeds in 2005. Diane Linsley obtained the original seed from James M. Irvine, who got his seeds from Ron Watts of Kaysville, Utah. According to Mr. Irvine, Purple Passion is an old Utah heirloom. Indet. 80 days."
Apparently there is another, quite distinct variety with this same name of Purple Passion. At Tatiana's Tomatobase, two descriptions are:
Tatiana Kouchnareva: "Indet., potato leaf plants, large beefsteak fruits, purple on the outside and green with purple marbling inside. Excellent strong fruity flavor. 8-14 oz."
Neil Lockhart: "80 days, indet., potato leaf plant with a good yield of 4-8 oz purple-black fruit with very good flavor, may be unstable."
