Small to medium, pink fruits with distinctive shapes: roughly piriform with deep ribbing; many with some hollowness of seed locules. Smooth texture and excellent, moderately rich flavor. Regular leaf, indeterminate vines are very productive from 75 days. Seed source was Aleksey Kulik of Russia, with sources tracing to Kazakhstan and Switzerland. Étoile is French for “star-shaped”; and, like a carambola, fruit often slightly resemble a star when sliced.
